Jussi Sane is a consultant for the World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe working on health emergency preparedness, capacity building and technical assessments. Jussi has been coordinating the COVID-19 intra-action review as part of the incident management and support team at the Regional Office and contributed to programmatic work on IHR implementation and analytical work in general.

Until August 2020, Jussi Sane worked as a Chief Specialist at the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) where he led a team responsible for communicable disease preparedness and response and became the main incident manager for COVID-19 response at THL and one of the spokespersons in the media.

Jussi in an epidemiologist and virologist (PhD) by training and a graduate from the European Programme for Intervention Epidemiology Training. He is an adjunct professor of infectious disease epidemiology, at Tampere University (Finland) research activities focusing on vector-borne and vaccine-preventable infections, and global health
